Music intern

Hadn't heard back from him in ages, but Dumas who teaches music did end up sending an intern my way today. This student will work on a history of the music program here. I went over some basics of the school history, the archives and so on with her today.

May Sarton

Email query about appearances of this poet here in the 1980s. Looking through the Writers Forum and other sources only saw mention of one appearance, in November 1983. Replied back with this information.

Caroline Parker

John Maier was by yesterday, still pursuing the history of a Seneca woman, Caroline Parker, (sister of Civil War soldier Ely P.) She is said to have attended the Collegiate Institute, but we looked at the 1840s catalogs as I did for him before and did not see her. Discussed the academy, the records available, how people sometimes only were here for a term or two and didn't necessarily make it into the student lists...

Also helped him ascertain some contemporary newspapers and the libraries holding them, primarily Batavia papers, as that is closest to the Tonawanda reservation.

Stylus editor today

Finally am going to be meeting with the Stylus editor this afternoon re the centennial. Have some materials out to share with her, suggestions etc.

Cataloging Brockport Knapp Museum books

Got a question from a student working with that anthro class this spring at the Knapp Museum. Her task is to catalog the books they have up there. I suggested LibraryThing as a good option, referred her to the church library I maintain on there as an example, and am going to be helping her, and the museum, with this.
